Vision

About

Born and bred between Bordeaux and the south west Atlantic coast, I have always been keen on art and on drawing since my childhood. That’s why I chose visual art as an elective subject at High School before being admitted to the Bordeaux School of Architecture (ENSAP Bordeaux). I had the opportunity to work for important local architecture agencies, then I became a managing partner of a local firm for about ten years when I decided to found Perrin Keulers Architecture in 2020. Today the agency mainly focuses on private customers and deals with various projects going from housing and medical buildings to catering. With offices in Bordeaux and Cap Ferret, I chose to settle in those two places which have built my identity. This vision on our practice was also built with my everyday passions of travelling and living close to the ocean, as a « waterman ». The type of architecture proposed aims at being peaceful, respectful and full of light.

Values

The act of building is far from being meaningless and a great deal of commitment is required to create an obvious and peaceful as if « it had always been there ». At the Agency these values are the heart of our daily concern.

Listening to the client

Meeting the client’s desire is being privileged from the very beginning to the day-to- day management of the building act. Listening carefully leads to retranscribe the first wishes and improve fluid and measured spaces, fitting harmoniously with the places they belong to. Furthermore sharing and exchanging ideas at the office leaves us free to view the most appropriate and relevant answer.

A « tailor-made » identity

Every project is thought as an opportunity and a testing ground. However, a meticulous study of each building and its environment drives us to take the right decision in order to increase the value of the intrinsic nature of the place. Our plan takes roots in its own ground and, by revealing what has already been done, it puts the simplicity and the durability of the building in the limelight. We consider that each project must be treated as an « architectural fashion design ». The project will inevitably express the first vision; it will look like its owners and meet their requirements. As a result, and without realizing it, the owners will enjoy this « tailor-made » house. Each finishing touch is important, even essential. We believe that starting a building project must be perfectly realized whatever the material nobility used.

An environmental respect

We attach importance to natural soil. We want to minimize our footprints on every construction site and re use as much as possible the materials found on the plot. The choice of materials tries to be locally sourced with minimum environmental impact. We aim at constructing passive buildings and, needless to say that the respect of ecology is just common sense. To us, frugality is not an obstacle but an opportunity. We’ve got to be able to propose the right materials to each situation: they can be innovating or traditional to the country. Once set at the right spot, these materials create places that are unique, perfectly obvious and enjoyable. Our task is not only to « build » but to put in the limelight those lines and those materials leading us to a feeling of marvel and of happiness.

The knowledge and the human

We work with teams passionate about their jobs and team members who understand our goals and vision. We enjoy both the traditional and the progressive techniques and give the best possible answers adapted to each project. We are proud when we realize that the mutual respect between some companions and our agency, made us work together for more than fifteen years now We know we are the ones who are going to synthesize all the information dealing with the project and enable to reach our goal when finalizing the building. We will be the link between the client, sometimes with no experience, town-councils and the companions. Even if we are not musicians, we have got to read the score and to play this « little music » called the act of building
